Indexed Film Coverslips

Indexed film coverslips carry coordinate marks on a thin polymer support for locating regions during microscopy. The coordinate pattern stays with the specimen support rather than the eyepiece field.

Configuration and materials

The CMC family uses polyester film. Polymer film is a separate material from optical glass and must be evaluated with the mounting medium, cleaning method and imaging conditions.

  • Film thickness, format and mounting method
  • Grid pitch, labels and orientation

Keep the address attached to the specimen

Labels and orientation marks help transfer a recorded location between observations. Keep the specimen-to-film relationship fixed; changing that relationship invalidates the old address even if the film labels remain readable.

Choose by function

What it is and what it does

Indexed film coverslips carry coordinate marks on a thin polymer support for locating regions during microscopy. The coordinate pattern stays with the specimen support rather than the eyepiece field.

When to choose it

Use a labelled film reference when a specimen region must be recorded and revisited, including workflows that correlate observations from more than one imaging method.

How it differs from related products

A polymer film coverslip, a glass coverslip and a rigid eyepiece reticle have different thickness, stiffness and optical behaviour. They are not interchangeable based only on a similar printed grid.

What can be customised

Coordinate layout, pitch, labels and orientation define how regions are addressed. Film thickness and compatibility with specimen preparation determine the usable mounting method.

What you receive

An indexed film component. A counting-chamber cover requires a separate rigid seating and depth definition.

Common questions

Does the film define a counting volume?

No. A counting volume also needs a defined area and chamber depth maintained by a compatible chamber and cover.

Selection notes

Patterned finder cover glasses use identifiers or coordinates to record and relocate specimen regions.

Choose marks that remain readable in the required field. State the coordinate direction and observation side.

Information for your inquiry

Coordinate map, labels, pitch, cover-glass outline, thickness and viewing direction.

Is a finder cover glass the same as a counting-chamber cover?

Finder patterns emphasise relocation. A chamber cover must match the chamber seating and depth geometry; select by the actual use.
