Fiducial Patterned Glass

Give the instrument a shared coordinate reference.

Glass components carrying crosses, circles or coded fiducials for machine-vision alignment, coordinate registration and assembly inspection.

Fiducial Patterned Glass

Product selection

What it is and what it does

Fiducials establish a stable reference frame for a part or fixture. They can be combined with functional patterns, identification marks or orientation features on the same substrate. Artwork polarity must match the detection algorithm and lighting.

When to choose it

Choose fiducials for repeatable location, centring and orientation during image registration or optical assembly. Dense field calibration instead calls for a distributed array or grid.

Product selection and delivery

How it differs from related products

A fiducial supplies a detectable location or orientation; a graduated scale supplies many measurement intervals. Asymmetric marks can resolve orientation that a symmetric cross or circle leaves ambiguous.

What can be customised

Crosses, circles, coded shapes, label fields and multiple marks can be positioned relative to mounting datums and the active optical region.

What you receive

A patterned glass component with the agreed coating geometry, substrate outline and inspection records.

Inspection requirements

Inspect feature positions, marker identity and registration to mechanical or optical datums.

Locate a part, field or pattern

Fiducials are recognizable features used to find a centre, direction or coordinate frame. A small set can support image registration or alignment without covering the whole field with a calibration grid. Place them where the camera or operator can observe them after mounting.

Design for the detection method

Crosses, rings and asymmetric markers provide different cues to a detector. Specify expected image scale, lighting and pattern polarity. A symmetrical marker can locate a centre while leaving orientation ambiguous; an additional asymmetric feature may resolve that ambiguity.

Keep the coordinate chain explicit

A precisely drawn mark only becomes an assembly reference when its position is tied to a physical datum. Record the relationship between the mark, plate edges or bore, and any functional pattern. Agree whether inspection reports physical-datum coordinates or best-fit coordinates.

Pattern and format options

Choose the functional geometry first, then define its size, orientation and mounting relationship.

Centre and axis marks

Crosses or circles for locating a reference centre.

Asymmetric orientation marks

A directional feature for resolving rotation or mirror ambiguity.

Common questions

Can coded markers be placed on glass?

Yes. Supply the authorized marker family, IDs, cell size and required quiet zones. The finished pattern must remain detectable under your illumination.

Selection notes

Fiducial-patterned glass supplies marks at defined locations and orientations for optical alignment and coordinate registration.

Define identifiers, positions and coordinate directions together with the mark shape. Keep measured image features linked to physical coordinates.

Information for your inquiry

Mark artwork, identifiers, coordinates, axes, clear field and mounting datums.

Is the fiducial shape enough to specify the part?

Also define its location, identifier and coordinate direction so detected features can be matched to intended positions.
